Davis collaborated with Miami architects Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk to plan a beach community, modeled after a small town, that would revive a building tradition representative of Old Florida: creating wooden cottages accommodated to climate in such a way they encouraged community life at the sea.
Today, Seaside Fl is a meeting place for locals, virtually at the center of 30A. With its own book store, music store, coffee shop, market, restaurants, Seaside is a community hot spot. It even hosts our favorite: a popular Saturday morning tradition, the Seaside Fl farmers market.
Founded in 1979, Seaside Fl was the first New Urban community built from the ground up, and is the cultural hub of Northwest Florida. It was the choice location for the 1998 film, The Truman Show, starring Jim Carrey and Ed Harris.
